Islamic Crescents Observation for the UK
The ICOUK is a volunteer organisation, established in October 2008 by a few active members of ICOP in the UK. The main objective of ICOUK is to revive the Sunnah of local Moon Sighting on the 29th day of each lunar month throughout the year and then disseminating the results via the Internet and mobile phone messages. There are over 350 members at present, which includes many Shariah scholars, scientists, engineers and other professional Muslims. [January 2012]

NEWS FOR ICOUK MEMBERS
The first visibility of the crescent moon (Hilal) of Rabiul Thani 1433 AH this year (29 Rabiul Awwal/ 22 February 2012) will start from the UK horizon before most of the world, Insha-Allah. Morocco is on the borderline of Hilal visibility and so we may not get any positive sighting reports from them!
The lunar visibility data from HM Nautical Almanac Office UK suggests that the Hilal will be possible to be sighted on the UK horizon, weather permitting.
Therefore, if we do not make an earnest effort to sight the Hilal from the UK horizon, then we will be failing to perform the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (sallahu alayhi wasallam) and having to complete the month as 30-days.
So, please could all ICOUK members answer the online survey (poll) from the link below and let us know (from the ICOUK email link below) if you have any problems.

The Survey will close on Saturday 18 February 2012 and the results will be released to ICOUK members on Sunday 19 February 2012, Insha-Allah.
