When to Observe Safar Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Thursday 17 September 2020) at 11:00 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Thursday 17 September 2020) and (Friday 18 September 2020) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Friday 18 September 2020 and in the Western Region will be on Friday 18 September 2020. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Eng. Ali Majeed Al Hajari said: "رصد قمر شهر صفر لهذا العام 1442 في تمام الساعة (07:48) صباحا رغم تواجد الهباء الجوي مع ارتفاع درجة الرطوبة السطحية إلى 60% ودرجة الحرارة 35% لترفع درجة حرارة المحسوسة إلى 48.13%"

Brunei Darussalam


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Hazarry Haji Ali Ahmad from Kuala Tutong City in Tutong State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Mr. Hazarry Haji Ali Ahmad said: "Alhamdulillah, with the permission of Allah's SWT, the Hilal of Safar 1442H has been seen at Maghrib today, Friday, 18 September 2020 from Brunei Darussalam.

The members of Brunei Darussalam Astronomical Society (PABD) held observation in Tutong District, and the crescent was firstly be seen at 6.31 pm via telescope. The crescent age of over 23 hours was also visible with binocular and naked eyes.

The western horizon was partly cloudy and Jupiter was visible at sunset - the Sun was used for telescope alignment reference point."



Germany


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Eng. Martin Elsaesser from Munich City in Bavaria State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Martin Elsaesser said: "After the easy daytime observation with the imaging system i also tried to see the crescent visually after sunset. There was quite strong haze and low layers of thin clouds. I had brought a small mobile lens with the imaging system which immediately showed the crescent. As i now knew the exact spot i could also see it with binoculars shortly after sunset. When the sky got darker it got easier to see and i finally could also see it with the naked eye. I could track it till it vanished behind tries. The imaging system created a nice video of all this."

Eng. Martin Elsaesser said: "This was a quick daytime observation in rather hazy skies. The wide crescent was of course easy to see with the imaging system. I will also try visual observation after sunset."

Mr. Abdul-Aziz Anyang said: "The Hilal Watch of Ghana wishes to inform Ghanaian Muslims that Friday September 19, 2020 was counted as the 29th Day of Muharram, 1442 H basing the start count for the New Crescent for Muharram 1442 H which was seen on the evening of Thursday August 20th 2020. 
 
Collated reports received from our members on the Platforms-MOON ISSUES ONLY- represented in all the regions in Ghana indicated that, the New Crescent beginning Safar 1442 H was seen in the evening of Friday September 18, 2020.

The new crescent of Shafar 1442 AH was sighted on Friday, Sept 18, 2020 from Assalaam Observatory, PPMI Assalaam at Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo- Surakarta Central Java Indonesia.
The 1st of Shafar 1442 AH in Indonesia will start on Saturday, Sept 19, 2020."

Results: Moon crescent was seen by 15*70 binoculars by Reza Janghorbani at 19:04 , for the first time. Other group members observed crescent by binoculars subsequently. Moon crescent was seen by naked eye by Roya Ghermezi and Masoomeh Hafar and Reza Janghorbani at 19:10 , for the first time. Other group members observed crescent by naked eye subsequently.

Eng. Martin Elsaesser said: "This was a quick daytime observation, while testing some new imaging approaches. The wide crescent was of course easy to see with the imaging system.
I could even detect the earthshine on the moon around local noon, but that looks far less nice."
