When to Observe Jumadal Al-Aakherah Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Thursday 15 February 2018) at 21:05 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Thursday 15 February 2018) and (Friday 16 February 2018) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Saturday 17 February 2018 and in the Western Region will be on Saturday 17 February 2018. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Taymour Nabulsi from Melbourne City in Victoria State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Indonesia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Jumadal Akhirah 1439 AH was Not SEEN on Friday, 16 February 2018 from Rowasiya Observatory at Bendo Ketitang Juwiring Klaten Central Java Indonesia. The sky was partly cloudy."

Date: Friday, 2/16/2018
Location: Red Crescent Association of Shahreza (latitude: 32 00 N, longitude: 51 52 E, elevation: 1825m from sea level, time zone: +3.5 GMT)
Equipments: Two sets of 15*70 binoculars, One sets of 20*90 binoculars, One sets of 25*100 binoculars, One compass.
Atmospheric condition: partly cloudy.
Horizon obstacles: 2.5°
Apparent sunset: --:--
Results: Moon crescent was not seen by naked eye, Moon crescent was not seen by binocular.

Mr. Abdessamad Doukkane said: "راقبت مندوبية الاوقاف والشؤون الاسلامية بالناظور هلال جمادى الثانية وقد نسقت جمعية المبادرة المغربية للعلوم والفكر بالتحري معهم مساء اليوم بصومعة المسجد الكبير.
ولم تثبت رؤيته وجو كان غائما،وتأكد الجمعية أن الرؤية ممكنة جنوبا"

Saudi Arabia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset.Photographed: ICOP member Mr. Turki Alamri from Alawjam City in Alsharqeea State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Mr. Turki Alamri said: "we start observation one hour before sunset with 0.4 AOD for 500 nm very bad sky but we managed to see it through the imaging system only in spite that we tried to see it with the main 8 inch telescope but we could not "



United Kingdom


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "On Saturday 17th February 2018, I was joined by a number of people from York and Leeds at the grounds of York Astronomical Society and we were able to see the Hilal of Jumada al-Ukhra 1439 initially by telescope/binoculars soon after sunset at 5:25 PM GMT and by naked eye after Maghrib prayers at 5:45 PM.  

The group from York were me (Qamar Uddin) and Noor Bakayoko plus three other astronomers (who helped identify the moon first) and from Leeds were, Maulana Foyzul Hasan Chowdhury and Maulana Sadiqur Rahman who saw the crescent moon for the first time in the cloudy UK weather, Alhamdulillah.

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The old crescent of Jumadal Ula 1539 AH was Not SEEN on Wednesday, 14 February 2018 from Rowasiya Observatory at Bendo Ketitang Juwiring Klaten Central Java Indonesia. Tje sky was totally cloudy."
