Jumadal Awwal Waxing (NEW) Crescent Observation Results
So far, the earliest sighting of the crescent was on 07 June 2005 from Iran by ICOP Member Mr. Majid Marzani.
Tuesday 07 June 2005:
- Iran: ICOP member Mr. Majid Marzani mentioned that he was able to see the crescent by binoculars.
- Saudi Arabia: ICOP Member Mr. Edrees Al Shubbar mentioned that he was able to see the crescent by naked eye.
- Algeria: ICOP member Mr. Bankih Kacem said: "The Jumada I 1426 crescent was not seen from Merkich station in Beni Isguen. It was hazy and partly cloudy. 08 members was present at this observation equiped by 03 binoculars (8x30, 8x40, 20x60)."
- Nigeria: ICOP member Mr. Usman Duhhu said: "It was cloudy here in Bauchi,therefore we did not attempt sighting the crecsent."
- Germany: ICOP member Mr. Gerhard Ahmad Kaufmann mentioned it was cloudy.
- USA: ICOP member Dr. Muhammad Hafiz said: "I tried to observe the Hilaal on Tuesday, 7th June, 2005 after sunset (Opa Locka, Florida, USA). Due to rainy clouds on the horizon observation was made impossible. The Official first day for Jumada Al Ula in the USA and Guyana is 8th June, 2005 ."
Wednesday 08 June 2005:
- Australia: ICOP member Mr. Sam De Francesco said: "Assalamualaikum; this was my own personal sighting attempt from Peace Park, Ashbury, NSW. Due to clouds and pollution haze, the moon was not sighted. I'm yet to confirm or deny sightings from other locations around Australia."
- Nigeria: ICOP member Mr. Muhammed Ya'sin Qamardeen said: "The crescent is sighted here in lagos on wednesday, june 8, 2005. No report to the effect of positive sighting of crescent yesterday. The crescent
is sighted at the right of venus. And the two form a good adornment of the lower heaven. Authority here in Nigeria begins Jumadal awwal on Tuesday 7 ,June 2005."
