When to Observe Dhul Hijjah Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Wednesday 26 October 2011) at 19:56 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Wednesday 26 October 2011) and (Thursday 27 October 2011) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Friday 28 October 2011 and in the Western Region will be on Friday 28 October 2011. Thus, the first day of Eid in both regions will be on Sunday 06 November 2011. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Thu 27 October 2011



Algeria


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Hocine Chikh Aissa from Ghardaia City in Ghardaia State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was superb, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Hocine Chikh Aissa said: " 28 persons were prensent in N'tissa station used one  binocular (7*50), Thul Hijjah 1432 crescent was not seen. Aide Mubarek for all Muslimen, thank's"



Australia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Afroz Ali from Perth City in Western Australia State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Germany


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Usman Dukku from Kirchhain City in Hessen State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Usman Dukku said: "Because it was totally cloudy, I did not attempt sighting the crescent moon."



Ghana


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdul-Aziz Anyang from Accra City in Greater Accra region State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdul-Aziz Anyang said: "Though, the weather was very clear both in Accra and Tamale (the northern region of Ghana, the crescent was not seen."



Indonesia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not seen by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "On Thursday, 27 Oct 2011, The New Crescent of Thulhijjah 1432 AH was NOT SEEN from Assalaam Observatory, Sukoharjo-Surakarta-Central Java - Indonesia. The sky was totally cloudy and rainy. We are about 80 persons from Ministry Religious Solo Raya, Teachers and Students of CASA from Islamic Modern School ASSALAAM, UMS, An-Nuur, and moslem around Surakarta district.

My friend from Gresik East Java reported that the New crescent of Thul Hijjah 1432 AH was SEEN on Thursday, 27 Oct 2011."



Iran


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdul-Rasaq Abdul-Azeez Ishola from Tehran City in Tehran State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdul-Rasaq Abdul-Azeez Ishola said: "The Crescent (Hilal) of Dhul-hijjah was not seen today it is raining in Tehran Islamic Republic of Iran Today During my Tourism to Iran this week.
"



Malaysia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Firdaus Mazlan from Teluk Kemang City in Negeri Sembilan State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Firdaus Mazlan said: "On Thursday, 27th October 2011 M equal to 29 Dhul-Qi'dah 1432 H, I with my friends (around 35 people) have split up around all place in Malaysia.

I cannot see the new moon either with telescope or with naked eye at Baitul Hilal, Teluk Kemang, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia (02:26:43.0 N , 101:51:16.0 E).

My friends from other places like Muar (02:03:0 N , 102:34:0 E), Pontian Kechil (1:29:20.68 N , 103:23:08.60 E), Johor Bahru (1:38:0 N , 103:40:0 E), Kota Tinggi (01:44:0 N , 103:53:0 E) and Melaka (02:15:0 N , 102:15:0 E) also cannot see the new moon.

So, tomorrow, 28 th October 2011 M (Friday) is still 30 Dhul-Qi'dah 1432 H.

However, base on Calculation (Hisab), our Government have announced the first Dhul-Hijjah 1432 H on 28 th October 2011 M (Friday). Therefore, Eid-ul-Adha will be held on 6 th November 2011 M (Sunday).

Mr. Qamarudeen Muhammad said: "Not seen"



2 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Simwal Jibril from Kaduna City in Kaduna State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Oman


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Prof. Mohammed Al-Bussaidi from Al-Fulaij Observatory City in Muscat State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not seen by CCD Imaging
Prof. Mohammed Al-Bussaidi said: "We had a very windy conditions that created dust, haze and clouds which obstructed any possible crescent moon sightings."



Saudi Arabia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Saleh Al-Saab from Riyadh City in Riyadh State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



South Africa


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Dr. Abdurrazak Ebrahim from Cape Town City in Western Province State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



2 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Ismail Davids from Eastlondon City in Eastern Cape State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Ismail Davids said: "Assalaamu-Alykum the moon was seen in Cape Town, 1st. Dhul Gijjah is Friday 28 October 2011. Gaj Maqbool/Mabroor to All Gujjaaj and Eid Mubaarak + Kullu `aamin wa-antum bighair Aameen"



Tanzania


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Zaffar Sheriff from Daressalaam City in Tanzania State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Zaffar Sheriff said: "Four of us in the group sighted the crescent using binoculars,  starting at 6.28pm Later only one person confirmed repeated unaided sighting. No confirmations have been received from other areas. 
 
"



Trinidad and Tobago


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdurrahman Ali from cunupia City in none State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdurrahman Ali said: "The crescent was not seen in Trinidad and Tobago however it was seen in Grenada and Barbados and based on this Trinidad and Tobago has started the month of Zul Hijja on the 28th October 2011"



United Kingdom


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "On Thursday, 27 October 2011 (29 Dhul Qaidah 1432 AH) many people from throughout UK have attempted to sight the crescent moon (Hilal) of Dhul Hijjah after sunset. None of the groups were able to sight the Hilal, as many places were cloudy and some places were raining.

However, we have received reliable/verified sighting reports (Muhaqaq-Ruyat-Basari) from South Africa.

Therefore, the Wifaq/Batley Ulama have decided that the month of Dhul Qaidah 1432 AH will have 29 days and the month of Dhul Hijjah 1432 AH will start from Friday 28 October 2011, making Eid ul-Adha (10 Dhul Hijjah) to fall on Sunday, 6 November 2011, Insha-Allah. Eid Mubarak to all Muslims!

Dr. Hussain Dashti said: "Salam,
Today, October 27th 2011, I was able to sight the helal from Gainesville, Florida USA.  The sunset was at 6:47, I was able to sight the helal with a 10X50 binocular at 6:55 then with naked eyes at 7:07.  The helal disappeared behind the clouds at 7:15.  Sorry I don't have access to the helal calculations at the moment.  And for the first time am including pictures, enjoy.

Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Roanoke City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location before sunset (sunset: 6:27 pm EDT) and started scanning the clear patches in a mostly cloudy western horizon using a pair of binoculars (7X50).  I stayed there till the western horizon was completely covered by clouds, prior to moonset (moonset: 6:58 pm EDT)."

Germany


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Eng. Gerhard Ahmad Kaufmann from Moerlenbach City in Hessen State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Gerhard Ahmad  Kaufmann said: "Although the sky was nearly completely covered, there were some small open breaches in the cloud cover, and I hoped to catch a glance of the crescent through one of these gaps. And this is exactly what happened about 20 minutes after sunset: the thin line of the crescent's centre part became clearly and easily visible in one of the openings and could be observed by me and my son and daughter for 6 minutes, until finally the crescent's upper horn disappeared again behind the clouds."

Seen: ICOP member Mr. Yunusa Yakubu from Bauchi City in Bauchi State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging



Pakistan


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Mr. Alam Sultan from karachi City in sindh State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Alam Sultan said: "Today (Friday October 28, 2011= 29 Zul-Qa'dah 1432 in Pakistan) members of the moon sighting committees of Jamia-tur-Rasheed easily sighted the moon countrywide with an uncountable number of persons at more than 52 places. It was sighted 5 to 10 minutes before the sunset at some places by naked eyes. Dr Shahid Qureshi informed me from observatory of Karachi University that they sighted this moon via telescope 20 minutes before sunset.
Also announced officially that Saturday October 29, 2011 is 1st Zul-Hijjah 1432 in Pakistan and Eidul-Adhha is on Monday November 7, 2011.

Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "The crescent was easily visible by naked eye.  As sunlight increased, a pair of binoculars was necessary to spot the moon.  Later, I was unable to sight the crescent even with the pair of binoculars."

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "I and about 30 students of CASA (Assalaam Students of Astronomy Club) tried to see the old crescent of Thulkeadah 1432 AH, but the east horizon was totally cloudy. The old Crescent was NOT SEEN from Assalaam Observatory, Surakarta Central Java Indonesia."
